corner view – travel

My travel plan is like this road. I’m not sure what destination will be my next.

travel3

This year we want to go to Schwarzwald. We own a voucher for two nights there. But first there will be the birth of our twins (in about five weeks) and we will have to look, how it will work – travelling with two babies when they will be three or four month old.

The long-term plan is a journey to Northumberland. We want to drive with our own car from home, through Germany and through Great Britain – but this might happen in a few years – hopefully.

You can see travel pictures of our tour around Iceland

Experiment – what a difficulty theme for me. I’m not a fan of Experiments. To feel safe is better for me. But sometimes I’m surprised of me, if I have done something unplanned.

Like this 🙂

It happened one breakfast during our journey through Iceland. They offered Lemon tea and I wanted to try it. Usually I’m drinking Coffee in the morning. You can see the result. It smelled – indescribable..

Corner view – vision

Schlagwörter

These days I have a vision of the coming spring and summer.

In spring, I love the view of our garden, when all the flowers are coming out and make beautiful colors.

Bild

With this beautiful colors, it is no problem, having some rainy days, because the nature seems fresh and healthy.

In Springtime and summer, live seems more easily and I have more opportunity doing things I like to do (biking, hiking, go boating or swimming)

Normally I like winter days when they are cold and it is snowing. But the winter this year is not worth the name. Most days it is cloudy, foggy and sometimes rainy. But the sun can be seen for only a few minutes – and I’m at work when the sun is out.

I hope, the spring will come soon…

What about your winter this year?

Corner view – a good read

Schlagwörter

I’m not a big reader. In school, I had to read many books but then I had to write a work about it too. So that was not funny for me. Then later I’ve read one book voluntarily: „Braveheard“.

And there were one ore two books more I’ve read. But since some month, I have an periodically appointment – to read corner view every Wednesday. I’m always expectant about the posts. Many thanks to Kristin, for showing me this.

Iceland 2013

Some years ago, there was a calendar of Iceland in my work. I was so impressed of the pictures and I wanted to travel to Iceland – my wife wanted too. One day we asked a couple of our friends, if they would like to come with us. So we planned the journey and decided to go to Iceland for eleven days in June 2013.

Before starting, we’ve read some travel guides and planned a Route around the whole Island. We are all „Geocachers„, and so my friend Caroline made a Pocket Query including the coordinates of all the interesting places and Geocaches. Many thanks to her – she had a lot of work with this.

I have to be thankfully to my mum, my father in law, our friend Nicky and one of our neighbors too, because they took care of our pets and our house while we were so far away.

It was my second flight journey, and i was very excited – but i had no fear.

As we had the Key for our rental car in our hands we started driving. This was very entertaining, because no one of us drove an automatic-car yet. We had enough to laugh about the accelerating and the breaking. With a little bit of practice, there was no problem at the other days and the two drivers (Andrew and I) had a lot of fun. Unfortunately on Icelandic roads there is a maximum speed of 90 km/h and 80 km/h on graveled roads allowed. So some times we drove too fast – day after day a little bit more 😉

We had a Skoda Superb and we all were impressed about this car’s size. Without any problems we could pack our suitcases in it.

We saw a lot of beautiful nature, this picture shows you some grass and other plants under Water

There is a National Park named Thingvellir, where the two continental plates (Eurasian and North American) are divergent.

We saw a lot of impressive waterfalls

Something special was to watch a Geysir in his own nature. I stood in front of it and couldn’t believe my eyes. The eruption of boiling water took only a few seconds and was enormous (watch the size of the man nearby). To take a picture is very difficult, because there were many photographers and you are waiting with them all for the right moment. It took me four or five times to get a good picture. At all, I think I’ve made about 60 pictures of this Geysir.

It happened about every five minutes.

As we drove around, we found a lot of interesting places and always very impressive landscapes

Some times the weather was very uninviting. Mostly windy, sometimes rainy but we had some days with sunshine and wind too.

There is no darkness in the Icelandic summer – only a few hours of twilight between midnight and four o’clock in the morning. This picture I made at around eleven at night:

To be continued…

I’ll work on this post – there is a lot to show…

corner view – hobbies

A few times every year we take a hike with my uncle, who lifes near the german-czech border. There are many old and lost villages and you can see many ruines there.

Bild

Every tour is very interesting and mostly we are alone, because in this area the population is very low. Sometimes there are a lot of cows eating grass.

Bild

One day, we arrived in an czech village named Rybnik, (means „Watersoup“ in german) and we were very surprised about an Event with old car’s an other vehicles.

Bild

The Restaurants there are prepared for german visitors and they all speak a bit german and we can pay in Euro’s. The meal is very traditional bohemian, a lot of fat but very fine. Mostly I’m eating garlic soup when I’m there – and my wife doing the same 😉
